Written By: Robert Cox

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After years of bullying economically-disadvantaged families, predominantly parents of Black and Hispanic students seeking special education services and support from the City School District of New Rochelle, former Special Education Director Yvette Goorevitch is now playing the victim in a report published out of Norwalk, CT where she runs the special education program for the Norwalk Public Schools.

A story published by Talk of the Sound “has resulted in some really very mean-spirited (social media posts), what I would call bordering on harassment and bullying.”

After applying for the position of Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services in New Rochelle, then completing two rounds of screening interviews and a third round with a full committee of members of the Administrative and Supervisors bargaining unit, Goorevitch is now tell school officials in Connecticut that she had no intention of leaving her position in Norwalk.

“I am not looking to leave,” Goorevitch told a local online publication in Norwalk, now portraying weeks of formal interviews in New Rochelle with a dozen people as “what I thought would have been a confidential conversation (about a return to the district).”

Having been exposed in New Rochelle, Goorevitch told Norwalk’s Ad Hoc Special Education Committee that she did not want to leave Norwalk.

“I want to give a statement to you all…so that…you know…that bit that this committee knows…and that the community knows…my deep commitment to continue the work that we’ve embarked upon,” Goorevitch is quoted as saying.
