NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A group of violent criminals assaulted and robbed four people last night, two at knife-point, in a span of 30 minutes. The attacks appear to be part of a series by armed male/blacks preying on the neighborhood around Bonnefoy Place between Church Street and North Avenue near downtown New Rochelle. A group similarly described assaulted and robbed a man on Bonnefoy Place last Wednesday.

Residents are well-advised to avoid the area after dark.

The first incident last night occurred at approximately 8:59 p.m., when two adult male victims, walking near 111 North Avenue, were approached by three male/blacks. One of the suspects then struck one of the victims’ in the back of the head with an unknown object. A second suspect then brandished a knife, while the third suspect went through the backpack from one of the victims. The suspects stole his Adidas Flip Flops, backpack, wallet and $50 in cash. The suspects then began to punch the second victim, stealing his hat, backpack, $20 in cash and his cellphone. Both victims sustained facial abrasions and lacerations, and were treated at New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital.

One suspect was approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a red sweater with black sleeves, black pants with white stripes and Jordan sneakers, and the other two suspects were wearing all dark clothing.

The second incident last night occurred at approximately 9:02 p.m., when an adult male victim, standing on the sidewalk near 54 Church Street, was approached by three male/blacks. One of the suspects demanded money from the victim, and when the victim refused, he was punched in the face and robbed of his wallet containing $35 in cash. The victim was taken to New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital for treatment.

These suspects matched the descriptions of the suspects from the first robbery.

The third incident last night occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m., when two male/blacks approached an adult male victim to the rear of 150 North Avenue. They pushed the victim to the ground and stole his iPhone. The iPhone was found nearby discarded and damaged.

The two suspects were wearing all dark clothing.

The prior incident last Wednesday occurred at about 12:30 a.m., when an adult male victim, while walking near Bonnefoy Place, was approached by three male/blacks, aged 15-17 dressed in all black. Two of the suspects brandished large knives, pushed the victim and robbed him of $1,300 in cash.

New Rochelle Police Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation, and anyone with information is urged to call New Rochelle Police at 914-654-2300.

  1. I’m sure the eyes popped and the jaw dropped on the likeness of Don McLean at the corner of Bonnefoy Place and North Avenue after this latest crime spree . A number of muggings and robberies have occurred on this block over the past few years and people I know who live in that vicinity do not feel safe at all. About 3-4 years ago a friend’s son had a gold chain ripped from his neck, during the middle of a weekday, after getting punched in the head by 2 muggers on Bonnefoy. Here’s a story from a 2017 crime about 4 men who where involved in 12-hour crime spree that included a mugging on Bonnefoy Place: https://talkofthesound.com/2017/07/17/five-charged-in-murderous-crime-spree-in-mount-vernon-bronx-new-rochelle-and-yonkers/ and another story from 2020 that occurred near Battaglia’s on the corner of Bonnefoy and North: https://talkofthesound.com/2020/11/02/new-rochelle-police-make-arrest-in-random-violent-assaults-on-sunday-morning/ . There was also violent robbery of the Sonny Wholesale next to Battaglia a few years ago and some shots fired just up the street on Clinton place back in 2014, https://talkofthesound.com/2014/11/08/shots-fired-in-downtown-new-rochelle-1-injured/. The NRPD needs to get the drug dealers and their associates on Bonnefoy locked up, or the violence will continue.
