VALHALLA, NY — Westchester County Police Officers rescued multiple people from submerged vehicles in the aftermath of today’s significant rainfall caused by remnants of Hurricane Else, which made landfall in Florida on Tuesday as a Category 1 Hurricane.

More than 2 inches of rain fell in a matter of hours.

Vehicles became submerged by flash flooding on the Hutchinson River Parkway, Bronx River Parkway, and Saw Mill River Parkways.

WCPD was assisted by Yonkers PD and Yonkers FD personnel in removing persons from inside or on top of several cars.

The Bronx River, Saw Mill and Hutchinson River Parkways remain closed.

“The best idea tonight?” said a WCPD spokesperson. “Avoid all these roadways in southern Westchester.”
