PORT CHESTER, NY (February 16, 2026) — Port Chester police arrested two men following a reported armed robbery late Sunday at a Citgo gas station near Smith Street and Westchester Avenue.
At about 10:15 p.m., the Port Chester Police Department received a call reporting an armed robbery in the area of Smith Street and Westchester Avenue. Units arrived shortly thereafter and determined that a robbery of the Citgo gas station had taken place, where a handgun was displayed as the owners were leaving the establishment.
Police said two persons of interest were seen leaving the area. Officers were able to locate and apprehend them.
After a lengthy search, a loaded 9mm handgun was located in the area of the arrest. The proceeds are believed to have been recovered as well.
Charged with first-degree robbery are Joe Louis Hill, 47, no known address, and Gary Dempson, 48, of 43 East Broadway, Port Chester.
Both were arraigned and remanded to Westchester County Jail for a future court appearance.
“Our officer’s showed true professionalism and were able to locate, and apprehend with no further threat,” police said.
