MAMARONECK, NY (February 17, 2026) — Several residents were rescued and multiple people were hospitalized after a house fire broke out Monday evening in Mamaroneck.
The two-alarm fire began just after 5 p.m. Monday at 912 Lester Ave., where emergency crews from across Westchester County responded to flames and smoke reported in a residential structure.
Firefighters from the Mamaroneck Fire Department, along with mutual aid from the Larchmont Fire Department, Harrison Fire Department, Port Chester Fire Department, New Rochelle Fire Department, and Purchase Fire Department, responded to the scene.

Firefighters arrived to find a fully involved house fire and began rescue efforts. In total, six people were reported rescued from the blaze, including children. Several of those rescued were treated for smoke inhalation and transported to hospitals, officials said.
According to WABC-TV, neighbor Silvestre Arenas said he “could see the mom and the child was outside, hanging outside the window” as firefighters worked to reach them.
News 12 Hudson Valley reported that another neighbor, Bill Sjostedt, said he saw flames and attempted to use a garden hose to help. “I ran to the garage to grab the garden hose… but then the nozzle decided it was going to break… I felt so bad because I couldn’t get water on it,” he said.
Fire officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation. No further details on the extent of injuries have been released.
