New Rochelle Hotel Rape Case: Man Indicted, Bail Posted

Written By: Robert Cox

WHITE PLAINS, NY (March 26, 2026) — A New Rochelle man was arraigned on an indictment charging him with multiple felonies in connection with the alleged rape of a woman at a New Rochelle hotel in December 2024, and has since posted bail set by a local court. Authorities did not identify the hotel; however, a source familiar with the matter said on background it was the Marriott in New Rochelle.

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that Nua Mitaj, 33, of New Rochelle, was arraigned Tuesday before Judge Robert Prisco on charges of Rape in the First Degree, a class B felony; Rape in the Third Degree, a class E felony; Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D felony; and Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Mitaj is due back in court on June 23. Bail had been set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond, or $30,000 partially secured bond, and he has since posted bail.

A temporary order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.

According to a felony complaint filed in the case, the charges stem from an incident in the early morning hours of Dec. 29, 2024, when the defendant allegedly forcibly subjected the victim to sexual contact and penetrative sex at a New Rochelle hotel despite her protestations.

“No means no. That is the beginning and end of the conversation,” Cacace said. “As alleged by my office, this defendant completely ignored his victim’s protestations and committed a violent act of rape against her. We will ensure he is swiftly prosecuted and faces accountability for his alleged conduct.”

The investigation was conducted by the New Rochelle Police Department.

The case is being prosecuted by Sex Crimes and Human Trafficking Bureau Chief Michelle Lopez.
