WHITE PLAINS, NY (April 15, 2026) — Prom season is approaching, and Westchester County is teaming up with the Operation Prom National Network to offer free prom dresses and tuxedos to local high school students. The 22nd annual Operation Prom 2026 Prom Formal Wear Giveaway will be held at the Westchester County Center from May 1 to May 3.
On May 1, the event kicks off with dresses, tuxedos, shoes, and accessories available to school groups. High school seniors with valid IDs can attend on their own on May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A prom prep event will also be hosted nearby at the College of Westchester, featuring makeup tutorials, mini-makeovers, and raffles.
On May 3, the giveaway opens to all high school students from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a public dress sale until 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit Operation Prom. Free Bee-Line Bus rides are available for students showing their IDs.
County Executive Ken Jenkins highlighted the importance of making proms accessible: “We want to make sure that every child in Westchester, regardless of the means, has a chance to feel both the excitement of the big night, and the sense of community inclusion.”
Leonard Townes, Department of Social Services Commissioner, remarked on the event’s impact: “Seeing the young men and women choosing their outfits and knowing they’re going to have a chance to look their best on their big night, seeing how it uplifts them and fills them with self-esteem, is wonderful to witness.”
Noel D’Allacco, founder of Operation Prom, expressed gratitude for the partnership with Westchester County: “Together, we have been able to make sure that the experience of the prom is accessible to all students regardless of their economic circumstances.”
