MAMARONECK, NY (October 15, 2023) — The Village of Mamaroneck has adopted its Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget totaling $50,328,000, remaining under the New York State tax cap.

The Board of Trustees approved a tax levy increase of 2.79%, amounting to $868,773, which is approximately $911 below the tax cap limit. The budget addresses mandatory expenses such as employee health insurance, pension costs, and utilities.

Cost Management and Staffing Changes

To manage costs, the Village has implemented procurement policy improvements, external auditing support, and assessments of organizational and vehicle needs. Some positions, including Village Planner and Engineer, were not funded or were deferred.

Staffing changes include the addition of a Purchasing Agent, Laborer, Village Attorney, Recreation Supervisor, and two Police Officers, with partial funding from a grant. Other roles have been adjusted, such as the Public Relations position becoming full-time, while the Harbor Master Clerk position was reduced to part-time.

Village Manager Kathleen Gill stated, “The Village’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget reflects a careful and regimented approach to balancing the Village’s financial responsibilities with the needs of our community. We have remained under the New York State tax cap while upholding essential services and making strategic developments in staffing and operations.”

Revenue and Fund Balance

Revenue sources include property taxes, State and Federal aid, and various fees. The budget also sees a $150,000 reduction in the Sewer Fund salary allocation, totaling $550,000.

The Village projects a fund balance exceeding the 30% requirement by $2,000,000, available for capital projects and grant matches. The Village was awarded over $11,000,000 in 2025 for flood mitigation and other projects.
