PELHAM MANOR, NY (May 1, 2026) — The Village of Pelham Manor and EcoPel are organizing a volunteer-driven habitat restoration project, slated for Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. The initiative will take place along the I-95 roadside barrier at Pelhamdale Avenue and Manor Circle.

The event invites community members to plant New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) native shrub seedlings. These shrubs are intended to stabilize soil, filter runoff, and improve local habitats, effectively transforming transportation infrastructure into green corridors.

Community Effort

Originally started as a Pelham Girl Scouts Troop #2617 Silver Award initiative, Plant Pelham Native has expanded its mission to include broader community involvement. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water and fuel, while gloves and tools will be provided on-site. No prior experience is necessary.

To participate, interested individuals are asked to sign up at the provided link. First-time volunteers will be required to complete a waiver.
