NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 7, 2026) — The City of New Rochelle, in cooperation with the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, New Rochelle Downtown BID, and the New Rochelle Football Club, has announced the Summer of Soccer, a city-wide initiative aimed at uniting the community through soccer.
The event series, inspired by the World Cup, will feature a variety of interactive activities in local parks, skill-building opportunities, community engagement, cultural dining, and festive viewing experiences.
Events and Activities
The Summer of Soccer will kick off on June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Flowers City Park – Fosina Field, with an event featuring open play, family activities, food trucks, a beer garden, and a simulcast of the United States’ World Cup match against Paraguay.
On July 10, Flowers City Park – Skidelsky Field will host a co-ed community tournament, inviting residents aged 18 and over, city staff, and City School District members to participate.
The finale, a viewing party on July 19 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ruby Dee Park and Lawton St, will include live performances, a beer garden, and food trucks leading up to the World Cup Championship Game.
Business Participation
Local businesses are encouraged to join the celebration by hosting their own watch parties or offering soccer-themed specials. Participating businesses will be listed in the BID’s Summer of Soccer Directory. Applications are open until June 1 at newrochelleny.gov/sosbiz.
