Robert P. Rubicco: Criminal, Liar, Fraud, Daycare Operator — Part XXXVIII (4 Irish High Court Defamation Summonses Served on Cox)

Written By: Robert Cox

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (July 11, 2026) — Four Irish High Court plenary summonses have been served on the publisher of Talk of the Sound in Dublin, Ireland, on behalf of four New York limited liability companies associated with Robert P. Rubicco, the New Rochelle day care operator who is the subject of an ongoing investigative series on this publication.

The summonses, all dated July 8, 2026, were received by Robert Cox at his home address in Ballsbridge, Dublin on July 9, 2026. They were sent by Sheehan & Partners LLP, a Dublin law firm. The four plaintiffs and their High Court record numbers are:

— Anna & Jack’s Treehouse LLC t/a Anna & Jack’s Treehouse of New Rochelle, High Court Record No. 3337/2026P

— Treehouse Play Place LLC, High Court Record No. 3338/2026P

— 629 Treehouse LLC t/a Anna & Jack’s Treehouse of Pelham, High Court Record No. 3339/2026P

— 7-11 Treehouse LLC t/a Anna & Jack’s Treehouse of Larchmont, High Court Record No. 3331/2026P

Each summons was issued on June 29, 2026, by order of the Honourable Donal O’Donnell, Chief Justice of Ireland. Each claims damages including aggravated and/or exemplary damages for defamation, an injunction restraining Cox from publishing any further material alleged to be defamatory of the plaintiff, further relief as the court may deem appropriate, interest under the Courts Act 1981, and costs. Counsel named on each General Indorsement of Claim is Paul O’Higgins S.C.

All four plaintiffs are New York domestic limited liability companies. The summonses were served on Cox at his Dublin residence, sent by Sheehan & Partners.

Sheehan & Partners was simultaneously representing another client in separate legal proceedings involving Cox on July 9, 2026 — the same day the summonses arrived. Cox does not believe the timing to be coincidental.

Talk of the Sound first reported on Rubicco in 2021 as part of the “Nightmare on the Isle of Sans Souci” series. In 2025, reporting on Rubicco continued under a dedicated series titled “Robert P. Rubicco: Criminal, Liar, Fraud, Daycare Operator,” now in its 37th installment. The series has documented Rubicco’s criminal history, a long trail of civil judgments, regulatory violations at his current and former day care facilities in New York and Connecticut, lies about his employment history and education, Workers Compensation violations, more than $2 million in defaults of merchant cash advances and credit card debts and more.

Notably, Rubicco himself is not named as a plaintiff in any of the four actions. Each is brought in the name of a limited liability company. A full archive of the series is available at talkofthesound.com.

In April 2026, Sheehan & Partners wrote to Cox on behalf of Rubicco-associated entities demanding removal of the series. Cox declined and published his response, along with a follow-up response to claims of animus in his reporting. Those articles are available here and here.

Cox has retained Irish solicitors and a notice of appearance will be filed.

Cox’s reporting on Rubicco is based on government records, court filings, and regulatory actions, that he stands behind every published account, that he has no intention of removing any of the articles, and that — as this article demonstrates — he has no intention of ceasing to publish new ones.

Cox believes the timing and circumstances of the summonses are connected to a separate matter he is not in a position to disclose publicly.

All four plaintiffs are New York domestic LLCs with no apparent connection to Ireland beyond the fact that Cox resides there.

Rubicco’s criminal history includes a 2002 guilty plea to petit larceny and criminal mischief, a 2010 guilty plea to witness tampering, and a 2011 federal conviction for computer fraud, with the original felony charges reduced at plea. He served federal prison time after violating probation and completed his sentence in February 2014. The public court record documents civil judgments against him ranging from several hundred dollars to $1,396,791.60.

Cox believes Rubicco is effectively “defamation-proof” given the extent of his documented public record. “It is difficult to imagine Rubicco submitting to what would be an exhaustive exploration of these and other matters in discovery,” Cox said.
