PORT CHESTER, NY (September 10, 2026) — MTA Police have identified five suspects arrested in connection with the violent confrontation involving machetes, knives and razor blades at the Metro-North Port Chester Station parking garage, including a 20-year-old Port Chester man charged with first-degree assault.
Kleyster Gonzalez was apprehended Wednesday afternoon at his residence by members of the MTA Police Special Investigations Division, police said. A search warrant was executed at his home later that evening, and officers recovered several items investigators said were pertinent to the case and are undergoing forensic processing.
Gonzalez is the fifth person identified by MTA Police as arrested in connection with the confrontation. Four others were charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The latest MTA Police account provides a more detailed timeline of the violence, which investigators say began hours before the confrontation at the garage.
At approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, two groups were involved in a physical confrontation in downtown Port Chester, about one block from the parking garage on Westchester Avenue, according to MTA Police.
During that confrontation, one person’s shirt was torn off. Police said the shirt was later burned inside the station parking garage and the burning was posted on social media.
Investigators believe that act escalated tensions between the groups and led to another confrontation at about 10:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Metro-North parking garage.
Police said approximately nine to 10 males, including at least one juvenile, were involved in the later fight with machetes, knives and razor blades.
Port Chester police officers responded to the garage and found two suspects suffering from significant head and facial lacerations, according to MTA Police. Both were transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and later taken into custody on weapon-possession charges.
Another group of suspects fled the garage and was subsequently stopped by officers several blocks away near a local restaurant, police said. Additional cutting instruments were recovered, and investigators documented a blood trail connecting the parking garage to the restaurant.
Port Chester police had initially responded to the violence and secured the scene. The department also took suspects into custody after they fled the garage and has continued working alongside MTA Police detectives as the investigation proceeds.
The MTA Police Department is leading the investigation because the confrontation occurred on MTA property. The preliminary joint investigation has included MTA Police, Port Chester police and Rye Brook police and is based on video evidence, physical evidence and witness statements.
Detectives from MTA Police and Port Chester police are jointly processing evidence and working to identify additional participants, according to MTA Police.
Six blades have been recovered along with a lighter believed to be connected to the social media post showing the shirt being burned.
In addition to Gonzalez, MTA Police identified four people previously arrested:
A 17-year-old male from Port Chester was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Hector Durasno-Escandon, 18, of Port Chester, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Jorge Osoy Lopez, 18, of Port Chester, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Wilmer Ledesma, 22, of Queens, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said four suspects were taken to MTA Police District 6 for questioning after the confrontation, including two juveniles. Both juveniles taken there were released without charges, while the two adults were charged.
MTA Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges and arrests are possible.
