STATE COLLEGE, PA (October 22, 2026) — Former NFL player and Super Bowl champion Jordan Lucas, a New Rochelle native now working as an assistant football coach at Penn State, has had his DUI case transferred to the Centre County Court of Common Pleas after waiving his preliminary hearing.
Lucas, 33, faces five charges stemming from an August 16, 2026, incident in State College, including two misdemeanor DUI counts and three summary traffic offenses. All five charges remain pending as the case moves forward in the Pennsylvania court system.
According to court records, Lucas’s attorney, Anthony Gene Deboef, filed a waiver of preliminary hearing on September 28. Magisterial District Judge Steven F. Lachman entered a disposition of “Waived for Court” on October 6, allowing the prosecution to proceed without a contested preliminary hearing.
The case was transferred to the Centre County Court of Common Pleas, where a new criminal docket, CP-14-CR-0001015-2026, was opened October 8. The original Magisterial District Court case was closed October 9 following the transfer.
The preliminary hearing had been scheduled for October 21 at 8:30 a.m., but Lucas had already waived that proceeding.
Lucas is scheduled for formal arraignment November 4 at 1 p.m. before Judge Brian K. Marshall at the Courthouse Annex. However, court records show that Deboef filed a waiver of appearance at arraignment on October 8.
The Common Pleas docket lists the case as active and awaiting the filing of a criminal information and a pretrial conference. No plea, conviction or final disposition has been recorded.
All five original charges remain listed on the Common Pleas docket. They include DUI at the highest rate of alcohol, involving a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16% or higher; DUI involving general impairment; illegal parking on a crosswalk; driving an unregistered vehicle; and driving while his operating privilege was suspended or revoked.
Both DUI charges are classified as first offenses and misdemeanors. The remaining three charges are summary offenses.
Lucas remains free on his own recognizance, with bail set at $0.
The State College Police Department filed the criminal complaint September 22, identifying Officer Dylan E. McCloskey as the arresting officer. The charges stem from an alleged offense on August 16.
The case is being prosecuted by the Centre County District Attorney’s Office, headed by District Attorney Bernard Flynn Cantorna.
Lucas graduated from New Rochelle High School and played college football at Penn State before being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The former defensive back went on to play for the Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. He was a member of the Chiefs team that defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.
Lucas later returned to Penn State as an assistant football coach.
The charges remain pending. Lucas has not been convicted of any offense in this case.
