LARCHMONT, NY (October 3, 2023) — Village of Larchmont officials have expressed appreciation for residents’ concerns regarding excavation activities at Flint Park between May and August 2026. The village is actively working with authorities to address potential environmental issues.

On Friday, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Bureau of Environmental Exposure Investigation released findings from a health risk evaluation conducted with several agencies, including the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Westchester County Department of Health. The evaluation determined that, despite some soil contaminants exceeding regulatory standards, there is unlikely an increased risk to human health due to the excavation activities at Flint Park.

The NYSDOH noted that the regulatory standards in question pertain to continuous, long-term exposure, which has not occurred at Flint Park. As a precaution, officials have recommended restricting access to the excavation area and implementing measures to control dust and runoff.

The Village of Larchmont is adhering to these recommendations and will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
