It would have been hard not to notice that for many readers the site was not loading over the past day. It is a good problem to have — our traffic has grown to the point where our server was getting overloaded with requests. This has been a problem since June but I was reluctant to address the issue due to the cost of migrating too a newer, bigger server. Today was the final straw so I had to bite the bullet and sign a deal to get more horsepower for the site.
I do not want to get into all the details but the site has gone from 200 readers a month to 22,000 readers a month and it starts to cost real money to host the site on a dedicated server with all sorts of bells and whistles. What that will mean for Talk of the Sound is that instead of running Google ads and things like that I am going to need to start lining up sponsors and selling ads directly. I have signed an agreement with a company called GrowthSpur to help me do this but I mostly need the help of readers. So, if you want to support the site and looking for a way to reach New Rochelle residents (or knows someone who does) please get in touch.
