New Rochelle Sanitation Worker Struck, Seriously Injured by Vehicle on Eastchester Road

Garbage Truck Inspection Sticker 3A Sanitation worker for the New Rochelle Department of Public Works was seriously injured today when a vehicle attempted to drive around the truck and struck the city employee.

Mark Mercurio suffered a broken leg after being struck by a vehicle while off the sanitation truck. Mercurio was in the street near Eastchester and Askins Place when a car came around the truck and struck him.

Mercurio was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center.

“The incident is under investigation”, said City spokesperson Kathy Gilit. “We have no further information or comment at this time.”

    Bob…Saw the guy the other day…No cast…no nothing except one crutch and his fast walking step!
