Samuel A. Lore (1914 – 2013)

Sam Lore, a lifelong New Rochelle resident, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his New Rochelle home. He was 99 years old. Born in New Rochelle, NY to the late Francesco and the late Angelina Modestina Berino Lore on November 19, 1913, he was the owner of Pinewood Landscape and then Sam Lore & Son Contracting, both of New Rochelle. He retired in 1993 at age 80.

Being a child of the Great Depression era, Sam also resided in the Dutchess County town of Red Hook, NY during the early 1930’s where he worked on the family’s farm to ensure the survival of his parents and siblings.

He was the dear husband for over 70 years of the late Rose (nee Veltri) who preceded him in death in January 2012. He was the beloved father of Samuel, Jr., Frank (and Josephine) and Angela Lore-Barone and the loving grandfather of Patricia, Joanne, Colleen, Lisa, Patricia, Michelle, Charles and Christopher. He was also the cherished great grandfather of 10. He was the dear brother of Rafael DeRenzis, Stella Archino, Elizabeth Ruggiero, William and Daniel Lore and the late Concetta Norberto, Mary Smith, Modestina Barnett, Helen Lore, Helen Chiera, Domenick, Frank, Salvatore, George (Freddy), and Joseph Lore.

Always the loving husband, father and grandfather, Sam will be remembered for his kindness, humility and devotion to his family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, New Rochelle, NY. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery.
