New Rochelle Man Caught in Car with Stolen Property

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police arrested Stephen Slobodow, 52, of New Rochelle at 25 Lispenard Avenue in New Rochelle on August 12th at about 11:45 p.m..

Slobodow was charged with Petty Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor ,and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property Fifth, a class A Misdemeanor.

Slobodow was arrested after police responded to a call from a citizen who observed a white male wearing a white T-shirt looking in vehicle windows and pulling on car door handles of vehicles which were parked on the street. The citizen followed the party through the neighborhood. When police arrived, the citizen was able to direct police to the incident location where Slobodow was observed him sitting in the driver’s side backseat of a vehicle , rummaging through the vehicle. Police ordered Slobodow to exit the car. In his possession was a black bag in a white plastic bag around his arm. He was holding a black Garmin GPS valued at $180. Slobodow dropped the GPS device. Slobodow was placed under arrest.

A previous complaint identify the GPS filled out an owner’s deposition and advised that they wished to charges for the GPS was taken from the vehicle.

New Rochelle police responded to a report of a Larceny from a Motor Vehicle at the Radisson Hotel at One Radisson Plaza in New Rochelle on August 13th about 6 a.m.

The complainant stated that a Garmin GPS device was stolen from his vehicle. Found in the vehicle was 16 ounce can of Four Loko fruit punch drink left on the passenger seat, complaint states that he does not know what the can is not, that it was not there when he parked his vehicle, a gray 2006 Mercury Marquis four-door sedan.
