NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Monroe College, a national leader in urban and international education, today announced that proceeds from its fourth annual Monroe Miles 5K run/walk, scheduled for October 17, will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle. All are invited to participate in this charity event, which will take place in New Rochelle during Monroe’s Homecoming Weekend.
Check-in and registration will begin at 7:30am at Monroe’s Main Hall courtyard at 424 Main Street. The 5K (approximately 3.1 miles) race/walk will kickoff at 9:00am and will loop participants around the downtown area before ending at Gaddy Hall at 380 Main Street. Participants must register online in advance prior to race day, and check-in that morning to receive their number bib. The first 300 people to check-in will receive race-themed t-shirts.
Proceeds collected from the $15 entrance fee will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, a non-profit organization that serves the local youth community. Children under 12 may participate for free.
“We are honored to host this year’s Monroe Miles in support of the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, which has done so much to help the children and teens of New Rochelle over the last 85 years,” said Stephen Jerome, President of Monroe College. “We have an amazing schedule of community events planned that weekend, and this will certainly be one of the highlights.”
Awards will be presented in the Gaddy Hall courtyard to the top 10 male and females under 40, as well as to the first three male and female finishers in 10-year age groupings (i.e. 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, etc.). For more information about the race, please contact Mark Goodman at 914-740-6416.
