NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College Women’s Track and Field team competed at the Gotham Cup in Staten Island this weekend, where they added to their national qualifying times.
Zakiya Denoon was the first Mustangs runner to earn a national qualifier. The LSU-bound sprinter won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.50. Tristan Evelyn placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a clocking of 8.70.
Sisters Arianne and Ariel Strunkey both earned national qualifying times in the 200-meter dash. Arianne Strunkey ran to a mark of 24.89, while Ariel Strunkey crossed the line in 24.94.
The final qualifier came in the 1000-meter run. Dawnel Collymore crossed the line in a time of 3:03.92, sealing her spot in Pittsburg, Kansas later in the season. Full results from the event can be found here.
The Monroe College Women’s Track and Field team will head to Boston, Massachusetts this weekend to compete at the Boston University Invitational.
