NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Judith Musameci, 60, of New Rochelle, NY died Thursday of apparent smoke inhalation, according to New Rochelle Police.

Musameci was the building superintendent. She lived in a second floor apartment towards the back of the building.

As the Fire Department worked on extinguishing the fire, firefighters found the superintendent of the building deceased in her apartment from apparent smoke inhalation. The Medical Examiner was contacted and transported the victim to their office at Westchester Medical Center, where family members were able to make a positive identification of the deceased.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The City of New Rochelle and the Police and Fire Departments extend their condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Musameci.
