NEW ROCHELLE, NY (February 20, 2026) — The Iona University men’s basketball team used a strong overtime performance to defeat Saint Peter’s, 72-64, Friday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Hynes Center.

The victory clinched Iona’s final berth in the 2026 MAAC Championship in Atlantic City and avenged an earlier loss to the Peacocks. With three games left in the regular season, tournament seeding remained in play.

Saint Peter’s took an early 8-2 lead, but Iona responded with a 25-9 run capped by a Toby Harris three-pointer. The Peacocks went into halftime up 31-29. In the second half, Iona built a lead before Saint Peter’s tied the game at 61-61 late in regulation with free throws, forcing an extra session.

In overtime, the Gaels scored the first six points. Rookie Alliou Fall made a key three-point play with 2:16 left, extending Iona’s lead and helping seal the win.

For Saint Peter’s, Brent Bland and Bryce Eaton each finished with 17 points, and Zaakir Williamson added 13.
