Sentencing Postponed for New Rochelle Man Who Murdered His Two-Year Old Son

Richard leakWHITE PLAINS, NY — A judge has postponed sentencing of Richard “Ricky” Leak, 22, a New Rochelle man convicted of one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony relating to the January 9th 2011 death of Khalil Leak.

Leak is challenging his status as a 2 time violent felony offender so there will be a hearing, according to Westchester County District Attorney Spokesman Lucian Chalfen.

Leak was convicted of murdering his son on March 25, 2013.

Sentencing was scheduled for June 12, 2013.

Leak is next scheduled to be in court in front of Judge Robert Neary on June 27 at 2 p.m.

The defendant faces a maximum of twenty five years in state prison.

Leak was arrested after an investigation by New Rochelle police.

Assistant District Attorney Heide Mason, Bureau Chief of the Child/Elder Abuse Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Christine Hatfield Deputy Chief of the Child Elder Abuse Bureau, prosecuted the case.
